A top Massachusetts emergency official will discuss the response to the Boston Marathon bombings at Vermont's annual emergency preparedness conference.
The conference, held by the Vermont Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, will take place Oct. 18 and 19 at Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee.
Organizers say the event gives emergency responders, planners and town officials training and a chance for them to develop mutual aid relationships with each other. The training topics include ethanol and fire response, cyber security, preparedness for mobile home parks and preparing Vermont's college campuses.
The keynote speaker is Kurt Schwartz, undersecretary of the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency.
