A Vermont grain company says getting a derailed car back onto the tracks and other repairs could cost as much as $50,000 after a vandal released the brakes on three rail cars in Bethel.
Green Mountain Feeds owner Eric Dutil says two of the grain cars were at rest on a rail spur when someone released the brake, forcing them into a third car that was pushed off the tracks.
Each of the cars was full of grain and weighed about 250,000 pounds.
Police are investigating the incident as a felony vandalism case.
The Valley News reports the suspect was caught on video, but the image is too distant to make out who the person was.
