Migratory birds travel great distances, and on the way travel through many states, provinces and countries. So issues affecting these winged travelers intersect with many different laws and regulations.
Now a Vermonter will be heading a scientific group that pays attention to these issues and makes recommendations for the protection of these birds to the Atlantic Flyway Council. State Wildlife Biologist John Buck was just named as chair of the Atlantic Flyway Nongame Bird Technical Section for the Atlantic Flyway Council. He talked to Vermont Edition about what his new position entails.
