Federal prosecutors say they will withdraw the death penalty against a man charged with killing his niece in exchange for a guilty plea.
Late Friday, Vermont's U.S. Attorney's office issued a statement saying the notice of the intent to withdraw the death penalty against Michael Jacques required him to plead guilty to all charges against him and agree to a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Jacques was charged with the 2008 abduction, sexual assault and killing of his niece, 12-year-old Brooke Bennett.
