Foundation Seeks To Help Rural Libraries

A non-profit organization that tries to nurture a love of reading in children is looking to help rural libraries across Vermont and New Hampshire.

The Children's Literacy Foundation in Waterbury is accepting applications for a grant program open to public libraries in Vermont or New Hampshire towns with 5,000 or fewer residents. Those who are awarded the grants will get $2,000 worth of new children's books for their town libraries as well as new books for their elementary school libraries.

The foundation says its work has helped more than 140,000 children over the last 15 years through literacy programs and books worth $2.5 million.
