Vermont's Green Mountain Care Board says it is encouraged after completing an initial review of hospital budgets for the coming fiscal year.
Board Chairwoman Anya Rader Wallach says initial budget submissions from Vermont’s hospitals ranged from an 11-and-a half percent decrease to a 6-point-2 percent increase. The average of all hospitals showed a decrease.
She says the submissions indicate the hospitals are taking seriously the state's push to get cost growth under control.
The board is to hold public hearings on the budgets late next month before issuing final rulings.
