Report Say Woman Who Died In Essex Crash Was Intoxicated

A Vermont State Police report says a woman who was killed in a crash involving a school bus and police cruiser in April had a blood alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit.

Police said 54-year-old Rosemary Hollwedel of Essex rear-ended the bus, carrying members of the Essex High School tennis team on U.S. Rt. 2A in Essex. She then veered into oncoming traffic and collided with the cruiser.

Hollwedel was thrown from SUV and pronounced dead at the scene. She wasn't wearing a seat belt.

The police officer was treated for multiple cuts. No one aboard the school bus was hurt.

The Burlington Free Press reports Hollwedel had a blood alcohol content of .194 percent. The legal limit for driving in Vermont is .08 percent.
