A former Vermont town clerk and treasurer is going to prison after pleading guilty to embezzling several hundred thousand dollars from the town of Weybridge.
Fifty-one-year-old Karen Brisson was sentenced yesterday to two years in prison.
The judge also ordered Brisson to pay back more than $400-thousand dollars to the town and its insurer.
Brisson had served as town clerk for about 27 years.
Prosecutors say she stole money from 2006 to 2012, by writing checks from the town to herself.
