Balancing The Need For Energy With Its Environmental Impact

In our rush to use renewable sources for energy in place of oil and coal, it would help to have solid science as a basis for that decision. When it comes to burning wood, Dartmouth College Professor of Environmental Studies Andy Friedland says we need to look at all of the consequences of harvesting that timber. His new study delves into the impact on carbon stored in our mineral soil.

He spoke with Vermont Edition about the study.
