It’s time for the next installment of Vermont Edition Summer School. You may have thought you’d never be cool or coordinated enough to show off your stuff at the skate park, but we’re here to prove you wrong!
On this week’s Summer School, we’ll hear from Hannah Dean Wood, co-owner of Talent Skate Park in South Burlington, who will teach us one of the most basic skateboarding skills: “pumping the bowl.”
"Skateboarding is all about balance, just like life"
The key, says Dean Wood, is always facing the direction that you want to go and using your legs to gain momentum: “We compare it a lot to riding on a swing-set. When you start off someone is always pushing you from behind, and then when you get a little bit older you learn when to pump your legs out and in to get higher and higher on the swings."
For more of our Summer School series, listen to Vermont Edition every Monday throughout the summer. Next week, we’ll get some tips to improve our golf game!
