Senator Charles Schumer and other New York lawmakers are pressing Amtrak to add baggage cars on its Ethan Allen and Adirondack trains to enable trains to carry bicycles. Amtrak has made similar moves on other lines for bicycle-toting travelers. In California, the program is so popular the railroad requires reservations.
