House Democrats nominated Grand Isle Representative Mitzi Johnson for House speaker on Saturday. We're talkng to Representative Johnson about her plans and priorities for the coming session.

On Saturday, House Democrats nominated Grand Isle Representative Mitzi Johnson for Speaker of the House. We're talking to her about her plans and priorities in the coming session.

Rep. Mitzi Johnson has served for 14 years in the Vermont House of Representatives and became chair of the House Appropriations Committee last year.

Also on the program:  the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Vermont just announced that it's receiving federal funds to hire an attorney whose focus will be exclusively on civil rights. We're talking with that lawyer and hearing more from the office.

We're joined by Julia Torti, Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Civil Division, and Kolo Kerest, Civil Chief and Civil Rights Coordinator.
