When you're the consummate party host but the party is over, how do you get friends to head home for the night?
If the celebration is over and guests want to stay and continue to party, there is a courteous method to make sure all have gone safely on their way.
Though the common thought might be to offer to call an Uber or cab, as the homeowner and host, you are liable to see that your guests get safely all the way home, whether they are behind the wheel or not.
If the case is that you've served alcohol to guests, it might be better for you and them when you call it a night, to pull out a couch or offer a pillow and blanket instead.
As long as you've begun to wind down the party with gentle cues to alert them it is time to go (cleaning up, put the bar away, turn the music off and the lights on) and then set firm boundaries that it is time to go (or time to stay till they are safe to get themselves home), then your job as host is complete.
