Awesome Etiquette: When A Friend Copies Your Resumé

Courtesy, Career Tipster
How can you help a friend with the resumé-writing part of a job hunt and make sure they don't copy your own word-for-word?"

You've offered to help a friend write a resumé and, as an idea-generator, you share yours. Then, your friend uses the same copy, font and order that's on your resumé instead of using it as a template to create their own original document.

The first step is to remember that old adage: "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."

Before your friend sends the document in along with a job application, encourage them first to tinker and tweak it until it becomes truly their own and not just a copy of yours.

That way, you will both have your own unique representations of your backgrounds and work record and you'll be helping a friend with the sometimes challenging task of finding a new job.
