Art Hounds: Bach, The Carpenters, Jazz & Dance

Violinist Michelle Ross will perform an all-Bach concert in Guilford to benefit local library.

This week, VPR Art Hounds suggest a folk singer in Tinmouth, contemporary dance in Barre, an all-Bach concert on violin and more. 

Thursday, May 12 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.: Story Night to benefit A New Place, a homeless shelter in Burlington's Old North End, at the Old Lantern in Charlotte.

Friday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m.: Musician Bill Staines performs at the Old Firehouse in Tinmouth. Recommended by Nelson Jaquay.

Friday through Sunday, May 13, 14, 15 at various showtimes: The 42nd annual performances of the Contemporary Dance And Fitness Studio at Barre Opera House in Barre. Recommended by local jazz singer, Alison Mann.

Saturday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m.: Violinist Michelle Ross plays an all-Bach solo recital to benefit the Guilford Free Library at the Guilford Center Meeting House. Recommended by art and music lover Rick Zamore.

Saturday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m.: Sally Olson performs A Song For You, Part One, a Carpenters tribute at the Grace Congregational Church in Rutland. Recommended by Courtney Howard from South Burlington.

Friday through Sunday, May 13 through 15: Lamoille County Players perform, 'You Can't Take It With You' at the Hyde Park Opera House. Recommended by Patty Jacob from Jeffersonville.

Saturday, May 14 from 5 to 8 p.m.: Auditions for all age groups 6 years old and older for Southern Vermont Idol at the Moose Lodge in Bellows Falls. Recommended by Susan McNeil.
