The legislature is considering measures that would increase funding to the Vermont State Colleges. We'll talk about the funding challenges faced by higher education in Vermont and across the country.

Tuition for the Vermont State College system ranks as the second highest in the country for in-state students in public four-year colleges. We're talking about the funding challenges for public higher education here in Vermont. The legislature is tackling the issue this year; and not for the first time. We'll also look further afield and see how other states around the country fund higher ed.

We're joined by Jeb Spaulding, chancellor of the Vermont State Colleges. We'll also hear from Eric Kelderman, senior reporter for The Chronicle of Higher Education, where he writes about  state higher education policy.

Also on the program, Jane Lindholm searches for wood turtles with Fish and Wildlife biologist Steve Parren.

Broadcast live on Tues., April 5, 2016, at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
