Arlo And Lyle Help Us Bring In October

Hoping for some eventual fall colors, with upcoming live performances in the VPR listening area by Arlo Guthrie, Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt, Scots Gaelic diva Julie Fowlis, and many more....welcome to October!

This program will air on Sunday, October 4th from 7 - 10 p.m.

This week's calendar announcements:

There will be a book and CD release concert at the Middlebury United Methodist Church on October 11th featuring Annie Patterson and Peter Blood, the authors of “Rise Up Singing” and their new book of songs entitled “Rise Again”. This concert will also feature Bill Harley, Magpie, and Charlie Kind, and will benefit The Lake Champlain Committee. Music begins at 7 pm.

Waylon Speed will perform at the Rusty Nail in Stowe on Thursday October 10th at 9 p.m.

Arlo Guthrie will be performing at The Paramount in Rutland on Tuesday October 6th and at the Flynn Center in Burlington on Wednesday October 7th as part of his tour celebrating the 50th anniversary of the release of “Alice’s Restaurant”, his most famous magnum opus.

David Francey will be at the Café Lena in Saratoga Springs on Friday October 9th at 8 p.m.

Mayfly, a duo consisting of Katie Trautz and Julia Wayne, will be performing at the Whammy Bar in Calais on Friday October 9th at 7:30 p.m.

Woodchuck’s Revenge will be playing at the Shelburne farmer’s market on Saturday October 10th beginning at 10 a.m.

There will be a  Franklin Harvest Hoe-down on Saturday October 10th beginning at 7 p.m. at the Franklin Town Hall. An end of summer celebration filled with dancing, snacks, and a good time! Luke Donforth will call the dances and music will be provided by Dave Hoke and friends

Vermont fiddler Patrick Ross will be giving a solo concert at the Hardwick Town Hall on Friday October 9th at 7:30 p.m.

Scots Gaelic diva Julie Fowlis will be performing with her band on Thursday October 8th at Fuller Hall at the St. Johnsbury Academy, and also at the UVM Recital Hall in Burlington onFriday October 9th. 

John Hiatt and Lyle Lovett will be performing together on the Flynn Mainstage in Burlington on Thursday October 8th.

Bilingual, bicultural band La Santa Cecilia, fronted by force-of-nature vocalist Marisol “La Marisoul” Hernández, will be performing in the Hopkins Center’s Spaulding Auditorium in Hanover, NH on Wednesday, October 7th at 7 p.m.

Central VT bluesman Dave Keller will be performing three times this week in the VPR listening area.  Check his website for more information:  www.davekeller.com

World-renowned Celtic harper Patrick Ball will be performing at Old Songs in Voorheesville, NY on Friday October 9th at 8 p.m.

The Slambovian Circus of Dreams will be performing at Freight House Hall in White River Junction on Friday October 9th.

Will Ackerman presents “A Gathering Celebrating Autumn Colors at the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center in Stowe on Saturday October 10th at 8 p.m. 

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
