How's Vermont Doing? Economic Indicators And What They Tell Us

Ken Teegardin

SeniorLiving.com
Different economic indicators can provide a variety of information about the state's economy.

How do you think Vermont's economy is doing?

Different economic indicators can tell different stories: from unemployment, to wages, to inequality, to the Main Street in your city or town. What are your the indicators you see that make a difference in your own economic life? What do you think of the state's economic outlook in the short and long terms?

We're joined by Art Woolf, professor of economics at UVM, former state economist for Governor Madeleine Kunin and current editor of the Vermont Economy Newsletter. And by Jon Erickson, fellow at the Gund Institute for Ecological Economics at UVM, where he co-leads the Vermont GPI - or General Progress Indicator - team.

And we head to the real inspiration for a fictional bookstore. Bestselling Canadian author Louise Penny has created a village called Three Pines, set in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, just north of the Vermont border. We caught up with Louise and the two owners of Brome Lake Books in Knowlton, QC at the official global launch of Penny's latest Inspector Gamache and Three Pines mystery, "The Nature of the Beast."

Broadcast live on Monday, August 31, 2015, at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
