Back-To-School Special Programs

Tune in to VPR at noon and 7 p.m. this Labor Day for two special programs produced by American RadioWorks.

Join VPR on Monday, September 7th at noon for The Living Legacy: Black Colleges in the 21st Centuryfor a look at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, or HBCUs--which helped launch the civil rights movement and built the black middle class before the 1960s--and what role they still play.

Then, at 7 p.m., VPR will broadcast Beyond The Blackboard: Teaching Teachers, looking into how the United States lacks an effective system for training new teachers or helping them get better once they're on the job.

Vermont Edition will return to its regularly scheduled times of noon and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8th.

Mary Williams Engisch is a local host on All Things Considered.
