Have you ever gotten a ride from Uber, or used Airbnb for a vacation stay? The marketplace of shared peer-to-peer services is growing, and so are questions about reliability, insurance, and consumer protection. We look at how Vermont is handling those questions with the Commissioner of Financial Regulation Susan Donegan, and we ask Forbes technology writer Ellen Huet how states at the vanguard of this new marketplace are handling regulatory questions. Plus, Burlington business owner Linda Provost explains how she handles insurance when she rents out rooms in her house through Airbnb.

Later in the program, new people and new food crops. The refugee community in Vermont has brought a host of new crops, new foods, and new farming techniques with them to the state. And now UVM extension is hoping to get the word out to growers who might be interested in experimenting with these new crops themselves. We talk with Alisha Laramee about the New Farms for New Americans program, and the booklet she's just co-authored called Global Food, Local Food: A Guide to Growing, Harvesting and Preserving African and Asian Crops in the Northeast. UVM Extension is holding a book launch party on Mon., April 13, at 3 p.m. in Burlington.

And we hear the music of the Vermont Fiddle Orchestra as it prepared for it's spring concert. Since 2003, it's welcomed musicians of all ages and all abilities.  The concert is Sat., April 11, at 7 p.m. in Montpelier.

Broadcast live on Thurs., April 9, 2015 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
