Governor Shumlin Charts His Third Term

Gov. Peter Shumlin has been re-elected for a third term despite receiving less than 50 percent of the popular vote in November.

What looked like a guaranteed re-election for Governor Peter Shumlin turned into a very close contest in the November general election. And when challenger Scott Milne decided not to concede, the vote to elect a governor by the Legislature became a contested affair.
Now that Governor Shumlin has been confirmed for another two-year term, we hear about his priorities for the next biennium, what message he gleaned from the close vote and what, if any, future he sees for the single-payer health care system that he has championed for years.
