Dancing Into The Darkness

The Bluegrass Gospel Project, pictured here, is currently working on a new album.

Lively dance music from Brittany, the UK, and from Vermont to lead into the last few weeks of shortening days, and also sneak previews of new albums in process by The Green Mountain Playboys and the Bluegrass Gospel Project !

This program will air on Sunday November 30th from 7-10 p.m.

This week's calendar announcements:

The Modern Grass Quintet will be playing at the Palmer Street Coffeehouse in Plattsburgh on Friday, December 5th; showtime is at 7:30 p.m.Colin McCaffrey and Friends will be performing at Bagitos in Montpelier on Thursday December 4th from 6 – 8 p.m.

Patrick Ross and his all-star band Hot Flannel featuring Doug Perkins, Matt Schrag, and Mike Santosusso will be performing at Court Street Arts in Haverhill, NH on Friday and Saturday December 5th and 6th at 7:30 p.m.

Newfoundland singer and musician Rik Barron will be playing at the Music Box in Craftsbury on Saturday December 6th  at 7:30 p.m.

The 2nd Annual Hills and Hollers Talent Show and Silent Auction will take place on Friday, December 5th from 6:30-9 p.m. in the small gym at the South Royalton High School. This special evening is a benefit for WFVR-LP/Royalton Community Radio. Featured musicians will include Jim Rooney along with many others.

The San Francisco-based women’s chorus Kitka will be performing a free concert on Friday December 5th at the Latchis Theater in Brattleboro.  Music begins at 7 p.m.

Lewis Franco and the Missing Cats along with the Brown Eyed Girls will be performing at the Ripton Community Coffee House. Saturday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Alan Greenleaf and the Doctor are in a dual performance with Samantha Moffatt  at "The Church" in West Fairlee Centre on Sunday, December 7th from 3 to 5:30 p.m.

The Freelance Family Singers will present a Holiday Concert at the First Congregational Church, 36 Elm Street, Woodstock at 7:00 PM on Saturday December 6th, and at 3:00 PM on Sunday December 7th.

Jon Gailmor will perform at the Bixby Library in Vergennes as part of the Vergennes Holiday Stroll on Saturday December 6th at 11 a.m.

The Green Mountain Playboys will play for a Cajun Dance Party at the Skinny Pancake in Burlington on 
Tuesday, December 2nd from 8-10 p.m.

The Monadnock Folklore Society presents Nowell Sing We Clear at the Dublin, NH Community Church at 8:00 p.m. on  Friday December 5th. 

The Monadnock Folklore Society also presents the Peterborough, NH First Saturday Contra Dance on Saturday December 6th, featuring Lisa Greenleaf calling with the band Pete’s Posse.  Dancing begins at 8 p.m. with an instructional session beforehand.

Colin McCaffrey and Friends will be performing at Bagitos in Montpelier on Thurday December 4th beginning at 6 p.m.

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
