VPR Cafe: A Bit Of Vermont In Portland, Oregon

Candace Page
Smoked duck is served with steamed dumpling at BTU Brasserie in Portland, Oregon.

Candace Page sees a lot of similarities between Burlington, Vermont and Portland, Oregon -- especially the food culture. Portland has a strong localvore ethic and many restaurants that specialize in ingenuity. Candace, who writes for the "Savorvore Section" of The Burlington Free Press, is vacationing in Portland. She tells us about the popularity of BTU Brasserie, a Chinese brew pub that veterans of the kitchen of Burlington's A Single Pebble restaurant have opened in Portland.

The VPR Cafe is produced in collaboration with The Burlington Free Press.

Broadcast on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at 10:50 a.m.

Franny was VPR's Director of Programming & Production.
Ric was a producer for Vermont Edition and host of the VPR Cafe.
