Grammar: Whom Cares?

PR Newsire
/
AP
What was the benefit of diagramming sentences and should it still be taught today?

All those grammar rules that were drilled into you in elementary school seemed so onerous and boring. Until they wormed their way into your mind and they became second nature.

But was it all worth it? In this age of 140-character tweets and LOL social media messages, is grammar still relevant? And what’s the difference between further and farther again?

UVM English Professor Susanmarie Harrington and Leland and Gray Union High School Teacher Annie Landenberger talk about usage and how grammar is being taught to students of different disciplines. Plus they answer your burning grammar questions and weigh in on the most egregious grammar gaffes.

Broadcast live on Friday, August 15 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
