VPR Cafe: Maple Wind Farm Rebounding

EMILY MCMANAMY/FREE PRESS
Bruce Hennessey of Maple Wind Farm walks by a group of several hundred chickens that will soon start producing eggs at the Huntington farm.

On Jan. 13, the huge historic barn at Maple Wind Farm in Richmond burned to the ground, destroying expensive equipment and thousands of pounds of stored vegetables. Bruce Hennessey and Beth Whiting have been climbing out of this disaster with hard work and determination, as well as the help and support of their customers and agricultural community. Candace Page, who writes for the "Savorvore" section of The Burlington Free Press, tells us how Hennessey and Whiting are rebuilding their business.

The VPR Cafe is produced in collaboration with The Burlington Free Press.

Broadcast Sunday, July 27, 2014 at 10:50 a.m.

Franny was VPR's Director of Programming & Production.
Ric was a producer for Vermont Edition and host of the VPR Cafe.
