VPR Cafe: The Flavors Of Farmers Markets

Melissa Pasenen / Free Press
The Old North End Farmers Market in Burlington

Community Farmers Markets bring people together to shop for local produce, meat, baked goods and crafts. Markets take many shapes and sizes around Vermont. Melissa Pasanen, who writes for the Burlington Free Press Savorvore Section, has visited a number of Farmers Markets around Vermont. She tells us about how they are surviving in a competitive environment and the diverse flavors that vendors offer.

The VPR Cafe is produced in collaboration with The Burlington Free Press and is made possible on VPR by the Vermont Community Foundation Food and Farm Initiative.

Broadcast Sunday, June 15 at 10:45 a.m.

Franny was VPR's Director of Programming & Production.
Ric was a producer for Vermont Edition and host of the VPR Cafe.
