VPR Cafe: Raising Kids

Chances are when you think of goats you imagine storybook animals who love to play and eat everything. In real life, goats are where the goat cheese on your salad and chevre on your crackers comes from. Thanks to the increasing number of goat farms in Vermont, local cheese is becoming easier to find. Melissa Passanen tells us what goes into raising goats, and how one family is building a teaching farm for prospective goat farmers.

The VPR Café is produced in collaboration with the Burlington Free Press and is made possible on VPR by The Vermont Community Foundation Food and Farm Initiative.

Franny was VPR's Director of Programming & Production.
