New Releases and Local Music Festivals

Previews of the Annual Farewell Reunion and the GottaGetGon festival some of the first of the many acoustic music festivals that will be happening in our area this summer, and also some exciting new releases!

This week's calendar announcements:

On Friday, May 23, the 12th Annual Farewell Reunion will be held at Grace Church in Sheldon as the annual benefit concert for the Tom Sustic Fund. Featured artists will include Michele and Fabe Choiniere, Hannah Beth Crary, Dominque Dodge & Rob Ryan,  William Lee Ellis, Franklin Heyburn, father and son fiddlers Latimer and Dave Hoke, Steven Jobe,  Carol Ann Jones, Ken MacKenzie, the Missisquoi River Band, Cajun fiddler Bob Naess, Will Patton and Dono Schabner, Doug Perkins, Neil Rossi, Patti Casey and Tom MacKenzie, and more. Music begins at 7:00 p.m. Food and free ice cream at 6:00 p.m.

Notre Dame de Grass will hold a cd release reception and concert tomorrow, Monday, May 19 at Petit Campus (57 Prince Arthur East) in Montreal at 6:00 p.m.

Northeast Kingdom musicians, the Pumpkin Hill Singers and Fifth Business come together in concert on Friday, May 23 at the North Congregational Church in St. Johnsbury, and again on Saturday, May 24 at the Danville Congregational Church at 7:30 p.m.

Alan Greenleaf and the Doctor will be appearing at Parker Pie "Wings" in Coventry, VT [at the airport] on Wednesday, May 21 at 6:30 p.m.

The GottaGetGone music festival will be held in Ballston Spa, NY from Friday, May 23 to Sunday, May 25 at the Saratoga County Fairgrounds. Featured performers include Michael Jerome Browne, Gina Forsyth, The Murphy Beds, and Molly Andrews.

Harmonica virtuoso  Robert Bonfiglio will perform two concerts in our area with his ensemble, The Bonfiglio Trio on  Saturday, May 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Saranac Fire Hall on Route 3 in Saranac, NY, and Sunday,  May 25 at 3:00 p.m. at the Methodist Church on Route 3 in Saranac.

Bagitos in Montpelier presents their regular Irish session on Saturday, May 24 from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., with Sarah Blair, Hilari Farrington, Benedict Koehler, Katrina VanTyne, and many others.

The meeting house on the green in East Fairfield presents John Cassel on Tuesday, May 20 at 7:00 p.m.. The doors open at 6:30.

Ottmar Liebert & Luna Negra will perform at the Tupelo Music Hall in White River Junction on Sunday,  May 25 at 7:00 p.m.

PossumHaw will be appearing as part of the Old Firehouse Concert Series in Tinmouth on Friday. May 23 at  7:30 p.m.

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
