Town Meeting Day did not smile kindly on school budgets. Around the state, 35 were rejected by voters.
Eight weeks later, about half of those budgets have been revised and put back in front of voters. VPR’s Taylor Dobbs provides an update on how those budgets have fared.
Then we turn our attention to Burlington’s controversial school budget. On Town Meeting Day, voters turned down a $66.9 million budget. In June, they’ll be asked to approve a budget now totaling $67.4 million.
Seven Days Staff Writer Alicia Freese and Burlington School Board Chairman Patrick Halladay explain the twists and turns that have occurred since Town Meeting and where the budget now stands.
Also on the program, Windsor photographer Chris Cammock decided to help the town celebrate its 250th anniversary by launching a project that has culminated in a book of portraits of 250 residents. She explains how “Why We Stay” was launched and what she learned from those she photographed.
