The label ‘non-fiction’ seems pretty straight forward. But when non-fiction writers pen a story in a literary style, they brush up against thorny questions of accuracy, imagination and how events can be remembered differently based on a person’s point of view.
On the next Vermont Edition, we explore the genre of creative non-fiction and how it's pushing the bounds of truth in storytelling. Our guest is Norwich University professor Sean Prentiss, co-editor of the new volume, The Far Edges of the Fourth Genre: An Anthology of Explorations in Creative Nonfiction.
Also in the program, a remembrance of Vermont writer Matthew Power. Two weeks ago, the journalist died while on assignment in Uganda. He wrote for The New York Times, GQ, Wired, Outside, Men’s Journal, and a number of other publications. We learn about Power's legacy from Roger Hodge, who was his friend and editor at Harper's.
