Can Vermont Afford A Higher Minimum Wage?

Toby Talbot

An increasing the state minimum wage is a hot topic of discussion at the Statehouse.

President Obama has called for an increase to the national minimum wage. Governor Shumlin would like to see Vermont’s minimum raised to $10.10 an hour over the next three years. But many lawmakers here say that isn’t nearly enough to improve the lives of low-income Vermonters.

St. Michael’s College Economics Professor Patrick Walsh, creator of That Econ Guy video series, looks at the pros and cons of increasing the minimum wage.

Also on the show, we'll find out what recent changes to the National Flood Insurance Program could mean for Vermont home owners.

Broadcast live on Thursday, March 20 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
