VPR Cafe: Kids Who Love Vegetables

Students at Lyman C. Hunt Middle School can choose from a variety of fresh salad toppings at the salad bar

More local food is showing up on lunch room trays thanks to the Farm To School Program. The program combines nutrition education with gardening to help children develop life long healthy habits. Sally Pollak, who writes for the Savorvore Section of the Burlington Free Press has visited schools where young people are getting excited about locally grown foods.

The VPR Cafe is produced in callaberation with the Burlington Free Press and is made possible on VPR by the Vermont Community Foundation Food And Farm Initiative.

Franny was VPR's Director of Programming & Production.
Ric was a producer for Vermont Edition and host of the VPR Cafe.
