The sixth annual Strolling of the Heifers on Saturday, June 2, 2007, in Brattleboro, Vt

The impending closing of Vermont Yankee has everyone worried about job losses in southern Vermont. But a group of people in Windham and Bennington counties have been working for years to try to understand the region’s underlying economic situation.

We'll talk to Pat Moulton Powden, of the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation, Dutch Walsh from the Town of Rockingham, and Bill Colvin from the Bennington County Regional Commission. All are members of the SeVEDS (Southeastern Vermont Economic Development Strategies) which just released a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy for Windham County.

What do you think would improve the quality of life in southern Vermont? Post your comments below, or send your questions to vermontedition@vpr.net.

We'll also find out about the upcoming fight for Jeanne Shaheen's senate seat in New Hampshire.
