Wed, Aug 14 Noon and 7 PM Vermonters have never been too concerned about the fact that the Battle of Bennington took place on New York soil. The encounter has meant enough to residents of the Green Mountain State that they’ve constructed an impressive 306-foot monument and declared its anniversary a state holiday.
We learn more about the battle from Mike Gabriel, author of “The Battle of Bennington: Soldiers and Civilians.” And we meet others whose lives have been touched by the events of a battle that proved pivotal in the Revolutionary War.
Also on the program, VPR’s Robert Resnik has recently written “Legendary Locals of Burlington.” He shares some of the tales of these local legends.
