New Music, and A Sad Note

A dynamic week for live performances in the VPR  listening area, new album releases from Harry Nilsson (who died 20 years ago!) and Tom Rush (who is celebrating his 50th year as a performer), and a sad farewell to Chiwoniso, a brilliant Zimbabwean musician who passed on this week at the age of 37.

The annual Piper's Gathering, a fantastic meeting of all sorts of bagpipe players and fans, will happen on the weekend of August 3rd at Champlain College in Burlington.

Ludlow’s own bluesman, Chris Kleeman and The Chris Kleeman Band will perform a free concert as part of The Springfield Medical Care Systems Summer Music Series at Jackson Gore on Friday, August 2nd from 6-9pm

The Monadnock Folklore Society is excited to bring Red Heart the Ticker to Nelson, NH for a concert on Thursday, August 1st at 7:30 PM in the Nelson Town Hall.

Village Harmony Teen Ensemble II, led by Susannah Park, Natalie Nowytski, Gideon Crevoshay will present a performance at College Street Congregational Church in Burlington on Monday July 29th at 7:30pm.   The concert will feature Balkan and Ukrainian village music, American Appalachian, Shape-Note and Gospel, South African songs/dances and Renaissance works.

"Alan Greenleaf and the Doctor" will be performing at Main St. Park, St. Johnsbury, Wednesday, July 31st, from 6:30 PM 'til dark, as part of "Summer in the Park" series.

Good Old Wagon with Marc Greenberg and Andy Pitt will be performing on Wednesday July 31st at the Martha Pellerin & Andy Shapiro Memorial Bandstand, adjacent to the Rumney School in Middlesex.  Music begins at 6:30pm

Genticorum will perform on Tuesday July 30th  as part of the Summer Music from Greensboro series – the place is Greensboro’s United Church of Christ, and music begins at 8pm.

Dave Keller will perform at Sweet Melissa’s (formerly the Langdon St. Café) in Montpelier on Thursday August 1st at 7:30pm

Woodchuck’s Revenge will play at the Manchester Farmers Market on
Thursday, August 1st at 3:00pm  

Sky Blue Boys  will be in Greensboro, at the Greensboro Barn, Country Club Road, All welcome; donations benefit The Greensboro Association.  Bring lawn chairs or blankets and a picnic.  Rain or shine, Sunday August 4th at 12:30pm

Rick Norcross and his Ramblers will play on Wednesday August 31st at 6:30pm as part of the Hinesburg Summer Concert Series

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
