Dave McGown
Board OperatorDave was a board operator for VPR from 2007 - 2016.
His broadcasting career began at Dartmouth College's radio station in 1965. It carried him from New Hampshire to Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands to Maine, Vermont, and Florida.
After seven years as an award-winning commercial copywriter/producer at WVMT, Burlington, Dave changed careers, joining the U.S. Postal Service. For 20 years he sorted and delivered mail to rapidly multiplying households in South Burlington.
He continued broadcasting as a part-time newscaster at WVMT until ‘97, and served as a Vermont Public Television booth announcer for 6 years until 2001.
Dave has four grandchildren, two from each of his two daughters. He and his wife Tina have lived in the same 1845-built house in Fairfax since 1984.
