Several dozen people who lost their homes to Tropical Storm Irene nearly two years ago are only now starting to get the money they need to get back on their feet. The owner of a crude oil pipeline that runs between Maine and Montreal is asking Vermont environmental regulators to reconsider a ruling that would require a new review under the state's land use law if the company seeks to move Canadian tar sands oil in the pipeline. Vermont's largest hospital is seeking state permission for a big construction project. Bennington officials say Mace Security International is moving at least some of its Vermont jobs to Ohio, eliminating nearly 40 jobs. Governor Peter Shumlin says the state wants to ease parking problems in Montpelier by encouraging people to carpool or use public transportation.
