Are You The One?

Vermont Public Radio was very fortunate to receive a surprise bequest gift from a woman we never knew. In the course of accepting her gift, we did learn a bit about her, and regret that we never had the opportunity to express our gratitude for her kindness. If only we had known, we could have said, “Thank you.”

And so we encourage our friends to let us know when they have included VPR in their will or other estate plans. You are leaving a true legacy and we would love to acknowledge your vision of ensuring public radio for future generations.

If you have questions or would like to speak with someone personally about your giving plans, please contact me anytime at 802-654-4388 or btagliaferro@vpr.net.

As a member of the Phillips Legacy Society, established to recognize these generous donors, you’ll receive invitations to events such as live performances, our holiday concert, and receptions with NPR personalities, and more. With your permission, we’ll also list your name as a member of our Phillips Legacy Society. Plus, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you’ll keep VPR strong for generations to come.

What is a Bequest?
A bequest is a gift through your will. This type of giving has become a popular and integral part of our philanthropic culture. It doesn’t require wealth, it’s easy to do and such gifts often enable a person to make a more significant contribution than may have been possible during their lifetime.

In addition, there are no complicated tax rules to follow and you maintain control of your assets during your lifetime. This type of giving is very flexible, so you can always change your plans as your needs change. There may also be tax advantages to your estate and heirs with this form of giving.

Brian was VPR's manager for special giving, including planned gifts, project gifts and major giving.
