VPR T-Shirt Design Contest

Update for June 30: We have a winner! "Mikaela's Dancing Chicken," pictured above, received about 40% of more than 600 votes cast. The design was created by Mikaela Luke-Currier of Randolph Elementary School. Her art will be featured on a VPR t-shirt this summer. Stay tuned.

In all, we received 330 submissions from 16 schools across Vermont. Many thanks to Chris Fearon of the Fleming Museum for selecting the semifinalists! You can view all of the submissions here.

The Vermont Art Teachers Association (VATA) and VPR are challenging students to design a VPR T-shirt!

In the Art Tells Stories challenge, students in grades K-12 are encouraged to submit art that tells a visual story - one from your own life, from your imagination, or one you’ve heard about the world. 

Each participating Vermont school or homeschool student can enter one submission for the Art Tells Stories challenge by posting it on Artsonia, an online children's art museum and gallery. VPR will select finalists and listeners will vote for their favorite beginning June 10. The winning art will be printed on a VPR t-shirt this summer. 

Designs should be in a square format and can be in color. They can be produced in any media that can be reproduced digitally and uploaded to the VATA website. The chosen design will be silkscreened on a t-shirt to create the final product. The deadline to enter is May 30th.

VATA is a statewide group of art educators who advocate for high quality visual art education in our state through exhibits of student work and professional development for teachers. 

Michelle leads the team that oversees station branding and marketing, communications, audience services, events and audience engagement initiatives. She joined Vermont Public in 2002 as an administrative associate and has worn many hats in the areas of audience services, membership, marketing and communications.
