Storytelling is as old as language itself, and as simple as one person sharing an experience with another. But it takes time and investment to keep the craft of storytelling alive.
At Vermont Public Radio, we practice the craft of storytelling every day. And that’s why we’re delighted to be media sponsors of the first StoryhackVT, which takes place in Burlington on October 19-20.
StoryhackVT is inspired by the “hackathon,” a collaborative approach to solve computing challenges. But instead of writing code, StoryhackVT is about writing stories! StoryhackVT was created to encourage good digital storytelling and to showcase talented Vermonters engaged in this creative endeavor.
Here’s how it works: teams will have 24 hours to write and produce a cross-media story, based on a theme that’s announced on the morning of Saturday, October 19. On Sunday morning, the teams will present their stories. The story with the most votes from the public will win a cash prize.
StoryhackVT begins Saturday October 19th at 10 a.m. at the Vermont Tech Jam and concludes Sunday, October 20th when each team presents their story. The kickoff and story presentation events are both open to the public.
We hope you’ll check out this innovative new event! More information and updates can be found at storyhackvt.com.
